HCJ ONE
I have posted a couple of video on You Tube in preparation for next week's topic which is 1848 / Karl Marx. They are on the economists David Ricardo and Thomas Malthus. They are not the subject of the next lecture, but they give you a taste of the economic thinking of those days, and the intellectual climate of the 19th. Meanwhile - Here's Yale University's standard 1848 lecture - not as good as mine - and he is slightly wrong about no revolution in Britain in 1848 because there was one in Ireland and a bit of a one in England (The Chartist Movement) and also in Australia (then part of the British State) - Utopia Ridge. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVbdoTgeHqA This whole series of videos from Yale is pretty good though - covers similar territory to HCJ but in more detail.
