BAJ YEAR TWO - ZARATHUSTRA

A couple of students have emailed me saying that they are find Zarathustra - the first set book for the new HCJ term - jolly difficult. This is because it IS difficult (though less difficult than James Joyce). But to assist I have produced an EXTRA webcast lecture (and notes) which is just about Thus Spoke Zarathustra. The scheduled lecture next week will be a wider look at Nietszche and we will be joined after that by Professor Charlotte Purkis to discuss FN's impact on modern dance, drama and performance which is another way in to understanding his ubiquitous influence on modern life.

The video is here together with some notes about Thus Spake Zarathustra. A broader view of FN's work and position can be had from the chapter in Bertrand Russell's history of Western Philosophy. Russell disliked FN as much as FN despises all liberals. So there you are: both sides of the story.

Will Professor Purkis be involved this week or will that be a separate discussion at a later date?
